After year 12, I intended on further study rather then finding an immediate job since i was already happy working casually. I found the cert4 digital and interactive games course and decided to complete that in 2020. Covid affected the classes obviously but it wasn't too bad considering we were pretty much a fully digital class.
Heading into 2021, I followed the pathway into the diploma course. During this time, we went back into lockdown again. This didn't affect my class much as we were a very small class of only 1-3 studuents usually. Doing the diploma, I furthered my skills and learned a lot about not only games, but a lot about media as a whole.
We learned to program in c# as part of our course. Writing hundreds of lines of code to get our games to function properly.
We covered game design which encompasses way more then I originally imagined. What makes games feel good to play and keep the players interested. .
Art was the most major part of this course. I learned a lot about art both 3d and 2d as well as the workflow from concept, all the way through to a functioning game asset.
During the course of some of the cert4, but mostly the diploma year, we learned about what it takes to own a small business in digital games as well as the WHS and responsibilities.
